Facial fillers are used to fill out the parentheses or other facial wrinkles and folds leaving a softer and natural appearance. These fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane consist of a smooth gel which is injected into the facial wrinkles to bring back volume and soften away those lines. The procedure takes about 10 minutes in the office. Since the products now contain a numbing medication called Lidocaine, the procedure is virtually pain-free and requires minimal downtime. Fillers are great because you will see the difference immediately, and the effects last up to a year.

Botox and Dysport are injectables that are best used for the lines and wrinkles that form on the forehead, between your brows, and around the eyes. These injections are quick and simple and take about 10 minutes. There is no downtime, and the effects of Botox and Dysport last up to 4 months.

Which injectable is right for you? This will depend on the signs of aging that you wish to reverse. You may not have any lines or folds around the mouth or nose, but you may wish to rid yourself of the small worry lines on your forehead. In that case, you could turn to Botox or Dysport. If instead you wish to rid yourself of the laugh lines around your mouth, then Juvederm or Restylane would be right for you.

It is important to have a detailed consultation with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon concerning facial injectables.  When it comes to your face, you can never be too careful. Take the time, ask the questions and you will be thrilled with your results.
