If you are looking for a minimally invasive approach, Dr. Heck is skilled in Botox & Dysport injectables, and Juvederm and Restylane which are facial fillers. Facial fillers are used to fill out the parentheses or other facial wrinkles and folds leaving a softer and natural appearance. These fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane consist of a smooth gel which is injected into the facial wrinkles to bring back volume and soften away those lines. The procedure takes about 10 minutes in the office. Since the products now contain a numbing medication called Lidocaine, the procedure is virtually pain-free and requires minimal downtime. Fillers are great because you will see the difference immediately, and the effects last up to a year.

Botox and Dysport are injectables that are best used for the lines and wrinkles that form on the forehead, between your brows, and around the eyes. These injections are quick and simple and take about 10 minutes. There is no downtime, and the effects of Botox and Dysport last up to 4 months.

The topical Botox application allows the botulinum toxin molecule to penetrate the skin and affect the targeted underlying musculature. It can also be used therapeutically to treat conditions such as axillary hyperhydrosis, or excessive sweating under the arms.

With the popularity of injectable Botox, it is possible that topical Botox may have a large following as well. Although not available yet, its widespread use will depend on its proven effectiveness.
