Topical Botox on the Horizon!
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a wrinkle free face without the actual injections of Botox? Medicis Pharmaceutical, which sells the popular dermal filler Restylane and the new Botox-like injection Dysport, decided in 2007 to work with Revance Therapeutics to develop a topical Botox.
The topical Botox application allows the botulinum toxin molecule to penetrate the skin and affect the targeted underlying musculature. It can also be used therapeutically to treat conditions such as axillary hyperhydrosis, or excessive sweating under the arms.
With the popularity of injectable Botox, it is possible that topical Botox may have a large following as well. Although not available yet, its widespread use will depend on its proven effectiveness.
Hopefully, the world of plastic surgery will have topical Botox as an option to look forward to in the future, and you can look forward to your favorite cosmetic treatment without needles!
