Labiaplasty is a perfect and safe solution for those women who are embarrassed, unhappy, or uncomfortable with the size and shape of their labia. Large labia can be a noticeable nuisance in tight pants, shorts, and bathing suits and can cause discomfort when engaging in sports or sexual activity. Dr. Robert Heck can remove the excess tissue including the dark pigmented skin and the wrinkled portion of your labia to give you a smooth and youthful appearance.
During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to address your goals and expectations with Dr. Heck. He will show you many preoperative and postoperative photographs, discuss placement of incisions, and discuss possible risks and limitations associated with the surgery. We understand that this is a very personal and private decision and do our best to make you feel comfortable.
The surgery is typically performed in our office under local anesthesia or can be performed under general anesthesia at an outpatient surgery center. The discomfort lasts for about 5-7 days, and you will be given a script for pain medication to ease your discomfort. You may also notice spotting and bleeding from the incisions for about 5-7 days, and you will be encouraged to use an ice pack on the area for the first 48 hours to ease the pain and reduce swelling. The sutures are dissolvable, and we ask that you refrain from riding a bicycle and sexual intercourse for 4 weeks.
After having a cosmetic surgery with Dr. Heck, all of your follow-up visits will be complimentary for an entire year. To ensure optimal results, always continue to follow your post-operative instructions and follow-up with Dr. Heck as instructed. If any questions or concerns should arise, please notify Dr. Heck or his staff so that they can be addressed in a timely manner.
